What a rainy summer it’s been! MASN has had a couple of events and an election in the past few months. First of all – a large group of over 40 Academic Staff greatly enjoyed Director Butcher’s presentation on the History of Eugenics at the UW in late May, for our annual Spring Luncheon. If you weren’t able to attend, she generously provided the presentation’s slides in PDF format for me to share with you – you can download them here, although without her entertaining and engaging descriptions of them, they can’t quite compare.
Next in June, we had our first Terrace Gathering – while a small group (always under the threat of rain it seems this summer!) we had a good chat in the sunshine with a pitcher of local brew.
And our elections were carried out – we had a couple of people run for the 3-year term of President Elect, and we’re very pleased to announce that Sarah Fox from the School of Human Ecology will be our newest board member come the start of our new MASN Year on September 1st! Please welcome her, and returning Secretary Lesley Fisher.
Speaking of the MASN year – we’re always thinking of what events and activities to do. Do you have suggestions – both classic favorites or new ideas – to share with us? Please contact us and let us know! Also, it’s not too early to think about signing up for the 2024-2025 MASN year; it’s still just $15!
Next up, we’re going to have another Terrace Gathering on August 15th. Members will get more details sent to their email addresses closer to the date. Hope to see you there!
