Sailing on Lake Mendota
4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Meet in Hoofers, in the basement of the Memorial Union
Join your MASA colleagues for this glorious end-of-the-year event—a two-hour afternoon sail on Lake Mendota. Relax on one of the Hoofer’s larger sailboats (accommodating 6-10 passengers plus the crew) and see our campus from a new perspective. After the sail, meet us in the Rathskellar, if you like, so we can all touch base before we head into the summer.
Because of the limited number of boats available, this event can only accommodate 40 lucky MASA members; so make your reservations early!
The cost is being partially covered by MASA funds, so MASA members need to pay only $15 per person. For academic staff who are not MASA members, the cost is $30 per person. Because of the limited space, we’ll need to have your payment in advance to hold the reservation for you. To make that payment and reserve your spot, send a check, made out to MASA, to Dan Barnish, MASA President, Biochemistry Addition, 433 Babcock Dr., Room 111.
You don’t need to wear swimming suits, but do dress to be on the water and in the weather, because we will sail, rain or shine. Please wear athletic shoes, sandals with straps, or other shoes that will not be slippery on a possibly wet deck. No flipflops, for safety reasons. And remember that it is cooler and breezier when you are out on the water. Please arrive at 3:45, although the sail begins at 4:00, because we will need to fill out some forms and get fitted with life jackets.
